Set Out By Eye
Stones are selected and placed so the pattern looks natural, not like a repeating panel.
Structural stone and decorative cladding, indoors and out. Add a durable feature with carefully fitted stone surfaces, walls or cladding. We help you choose a finish that suits your property and the space.

What We Do
Stone is one of the few finishes that improves rather than dates a property, and it suits the Cape landscape particularly well. Done properly it reads as part of the building; done badly it looks stuck on, and the difference is almost entirely in the setting out and the joints.
I.B.S Construction builds and clads in stone inside and out: feature walls, fireplaces, cladding, boundary walls, steps and paved stone areas. We take care over how stones are selected and placed so the pattern looks natural rather than repetitive.

Exterior stonework also has to shed water and survive Cape wind and rain, so the bedding, pointing and drainage detail matter as much as the appearance.

Our Approach
Stones are selected and placed so the pattern looks natural, not like a repeating panel.
Exterior bedding, pointing and drainage are detailed for Cape rain and wind, not just for looks.
We match stone type, colour and joint style when extending or repairing existing stonework.

FAQs
Cladding is decorative and fixed to a sound backing wall. We also build structural stone walls where that is what the project calls for. We will explain which suits your situation.
Usually we can get very close by matching stone type, size and pointing style. Exact matches on weathered stone are difficult and we will be honest if a blend is the realistic outcome.
It depends on the stone and how exposed it is. Some stone is best left to weather naturally. We advise per project rather than sealing everything by default.
Yes. We establish why they worked loose, movement, failed pointing or water, then re-bed and re-point so the repair holds rather than recurring.
